The Homestead
A historic estate of extraordinary character, nestled in the foothills of the D’Aguilar Range — just 84 kilometres from Brisbane.
A Grand Queensland Heritage Homestead
Built in the 1920’s, Banyak Suka Homestead is a magnificent two-storey Queensland home spanning 47 acres of gardens, grounds and natural bushland. Measuring 22.3 metres wide and 37.8 metres deep, the homestead is a grand and generous space that has welcomed guests, dignitaries and dreamers for over a century.
From the moment you pass through the stone gate entrance and follow the winding driveway through the gardens, you know you have arrived somewhere truly special.
The Grounds
The 47 acres of Banyak Suka are a nature lover’s paradise. Mature gardens surround the homestead on all sides, with seasonal colour provided by agapanthus, flamboyant trees, jacaranda, frangipani and countless other species lovingly tended over the decades. Stone walls, hand-laid by the original builder James Malcolm Newman, wind through the gardens alongside stone staircases, a tranquil dam, and the original 1920’s chapel where local families once gathered for Sunday service.
Future walking tracks are being developed to the upper reaches of the property, where the views across to the Glass House Mountains will be simply breath-taking.
Wild Life
One of the true joys of Banyak Suka is the extraordinary wildlife that calls the property home. Kangaroos and wallabies graze on the lawns at dusk, kookaburras and magpies herald each morning, wedge-tailed eagles soar overhead, cockatoos chatter in the treetops, and possums emerge as evening falls. Deer have also been spotted on the property. Simply sitting on the verandah and watching the natural world go about its day is one of the great pleasures of a stay at Banyak Suka.
Our Location
Banyak Suka is ideally situated just 84 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and Brisbane Airport — close enough to be easily accessible, yet far enough to feel genuinely away from it all.
